Learn how to install a Maxi Cosi car seat on your Thule Urban Glide 3 using the dedicated adapter, with clear steps and checks for a secure travel system setup.
Quick answer
To install a Maxi Cosi car seat on your Thule Urban Glide 3, use the dedicated Thule Urban Glide 3 Car Seat Adapter for Maxi Cosi. Click the adapter onto the stroller, then click your car seat into the adapter. Always check that both connections are secure before use.
Why the adapter matters for your Urban Glide 3
The Thule Urban Glide 3 is a jogging stroller, and its frame is not designed to hold a car seat directly. The adapter bridges the two, providing a stable, manufacturer-approved connection. Using the correct adapter is essential for safety and to avoid damage to the stroller or car seat.
This adapter is compatible with car seat models from Maxi-Cosi, BeSafe, Cybex, and Nuna. However, not every seat from these brands may fit, so always verify your specific model against the adapter's compatibility list before purchase.
When this setup makes sense—and when it doesn't
A travel system is convenient for short trips: you can move a sleeping baby from car to stroller without waking them. But for jogging or off-road use, a car seat is not recommended because it doesn't provide the same support and ventilation as a lie-flat stroller seat. Use the adapter for walking and shopping, and switch to the stroller's own seat for exercise.
Also note that the adapter is specific to the Thule Urban Glide 3. It will not fit other stroller models, so double-check your stroller model before buying.
Step-by-step: Installing your Maxi Cosi car seat on the Urban Glide 3
- Check compatibility: Confirm your Maxi Cosi car seat model is listed as compatible with the Thule Urban Glide 3 Car Seat Adapter. Also ensure your stroller is the Urban Glide 3 model. Common mistake: assuming all Maxi Cosi seats fit—some older or larger models may not be approved. If your seat isn't listed, do not use the adapter; contact the manufacturer for guidance.
- Attach the adapter to the stroller: Remove the stroller's existing seat or bassinet if necessary, then align the adapter with the mounting points on the frame. Push down until it clicks into place on both sides. Common mistake: not engaging both sides fully—listen for two distinct clicks. Give the adapter a firm upward tug to confirm it's locked before proceeding.
- Place the car seat onto the adapter: Hold the car seat by the handle and lower it onto the adapter, aligning the seat's attachment points with the adapter's receivers. Press down until you hear a click. Common mistake: forcing the seat at an angle—it should drop in smoothly when aligned. Check that the car seat is level and not tilted excessively; adjust the stroller handle if needed.
- Perform a final safety check: Lift the car seat gently to ensure it's locked onto the adapter. Check that the adapter is still securely attached to the stroller. Also verify that your child is properly harnessed in the car seat. Common mistake: skipping the pull test—always test before walking away. Re-check the connections every time you attach the seat, even if it clicked.
